Washington county community foundation provides about 35 Washington County Scholarships which are permanent scholarships with each one having its criteria and requirements for eligibility.

Some of the Washington County Scholarships are designed for students graduating from a particular high school. Others target students in a particular field whereas some are designed for students who demonstrate a financial need.

The criteria for application, therefore, differ depending on the particular Washington County Scholarships you are applying for.

The process of applying for either of the scholarships involves the completion of an online application form, where the student is required to provide some supporting documents.

To be considered for any of the Washington County Scholarships, applicants must fill out this form. Visit the web page of each scholarship to find out its requirements and criteria. 

Students can also apply for more than one of the Washington County Scholarships and in doing so, only one hard copy of the required document is needed.

Below are some of the Washington County Scholarships:

Alice Boone main memorial fund

This is one of the Washington county scholarships designed for high school seniors graduating from McGuffey High School. Successful candidates are paid an annual $500 to assist them with college-associated expenses.

Requirements for Alice Boone main memorial fund

All Washington County Scholarships are conditioned on certain requirements which the applicants must meet before a successful selection.

  • Applicants for Alice Boone’s main memorial fund must be made at McGuffey high school.
  • Applicants are also required to show the ability to complete their chosen post-high school course of study
  • Applicants must have the intention of attending a post-high school program
  • Applicants are required to provide their high school transcript
  • Applicants must attach their Act or SAT score
  • Applicants must also provide a copy of their student aid report
  • Applicants are also required to provide a 500-word essay about their plans and how education plays a role in that.
  • Applicants have the option of providing up to two letters of recommendation
  • Applicants are required to complete the online application form and to mail in a hardcopy of the required documents

ARTHUR V. CIERVO SCHOLARSHIP

This is also one of the Washington County Scholarships, it targets graduation senior high school students from Bethlehem center high school. Successful candidates are awarded $500 for every academic year.

Requirement for Arthur V. Ciervo scholarship

Similar to other Washington County Scholarships, below are the requirement for Arthur v. Ciervo scholarship;

  • The applicant is a senior high school student from Bethlehem center high school and must be in the graduating class
  • Applicants are also required to show the ability to complete their chosen post-high school course of study
  •  Applicants must have the intention of attending a post-high school program
  • Applicants are required to provide their high school transcript
  • Applicants must attach their Act or SAT score
  • Applicants must also provide a copy of their student aid report

The black family scholarship fund

The black family scholarship fund is a Washington County Scholarships designed for graduate students of Avella high school or west Greene high school. The scholarship pays successful candidates $1000 annually.

Requirements for the black family scholarship fund

Being a Washington county scholarship, black family scholarship fund similar requirements as other Washington county scholarship. These include

Applicant must be a student at the Avella high school or west Greene high school and must be in the graduating class. Applicant can also be a nontraditional student who is living in any of the areas served by any of these schools

  • Applicants must also demonstrate their ability to be able to complete the post-high school course of choice
  • Applicants must have plans of pursuing a post-high school discipline. Preference is given to candidates planning to major in agriculture, nursing, or education
  •  Candidates are required to provide a transcript of their high school grades
  • An ACT or SAT score
  • A 500-word essay regarding past achievements and future goals
  • A copy of the student aid report
  • Letter of recommendations, but must not come from a relative
  • Applicants must fill and submit the online application form and mail in a hard copy of the required documents.
